Pregnancy and Post-Natal Massage and Aromatherapy

What, no Aromatherapists around here trained for Pregnancy?

Last year, I got this message by email:
"I am currently pregnant and want to find out more about aromatherapy in pregnancy and also for labour and birth, I'd like to find out what safe and what is not and also how me and my partner can learn to use oils etc. properly, I was wondering if you would be able to help me or point me in the direction of someone who could?"
I said I would try and find someone who had training and experience in this area of work to pass her on to.

Now, I know of many professional and experienced massage therapists in Lancaster and nearby areas who are providing massage for pregnancy. But - having spent a long time searching online, and having asked other therapists, I was unable to find anyone providing Aromatherapy for pregnancy anywhere remotely near here. Also, I found an awful lot of conflicting information and advice about the safety and efficacy of different essential oils around online - not a reassuring experience for any pregnant woman looking to benefit from Aromatherapy! So, I decided I should do something about it.

There is now!

In March this year, I attended a 2 day course in London with Jo Kellet of fromtheseed in massage and Aromatherapy for pregnancy, labour and post-natal care accredited by the IFPA - the International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists. I now provide pre-natal and post-natal massage and Aromatherapy. I can't be there for the labour but I can offer some advice for you and your birth partner.

So ... if you know of anyone who is pregnant or trying for a baby, or someone who has just had a baby, who you think might be interested in the many benefits of massage and Aromatherapy - please tell them about me. :)

FreeIndex ratings, reviews and rankings: 2nd out of 449 UK Therapeutic Masseurs!

I just went on my profile on the Free Index online listings website, and noticed that thanks to reviews and ratings submitted by customers, I have a rosette, a 'Recommended' rating, and I am now ranked 2nd out of 449 UK Therapeutic Masseurs!

Here's the last review submitted on the 19th Feb which must have sent me right up in their listings. :)

"I have visited Ceri at Holistyx for reflexology. She conducted a very thorough review of my health and my reasons for trying reflexology for the first time. A few days after my very first visit I realised that I no longer had the extremely annoying throat clearing cough I've had for over 40 years. It had been such an ever present part of my life I'd forgotten to mention it during the health review. It is over a month since my first visit and I'm about to have my third treatment and the cough has not returned. It's amazing! The sessions I've had have been extremely relaxing and I leave with a great sense of well-being. They are going to be a regular part of my keeping healthy regime." Penny Park.

I am so grateful to all the people who have taken the time to review me on FreeIndex, and proud that from my 10 reviewers, 1 person gave me 4.3 stars, 1 gave me 4.7 stars, while 8 people gave me a full 5 stars.  :D

New Testimonial for Swedish Massage

"If I was my cat I'd be purring right now. Feels like you've stretched me right out and put everything back where it should be. You seem to know my body, just what I need, you're perfect for me. You seem to really get in there, not too light, firm but never painful. Wish I'd found you years ago. "

New Discount Scheme! - Loyalty Cards

I am no longer offering discounted packages for 5 weekly, fortnightly or 3-weekly appointments pre-booked and pre-paid in cash. Instead, I am bringing in a loyalty card scheme so all my clients can be rewarded with discounts for ongoing custom, regardless of how frequently you attend, and without having to book and pay for treatments in advance.

A session of an hour or less = 1 stamp
A session of an hour and a quarter or more = 2 stamps
You can choose whether to use your stamps when you get to 8 stamps, for 25% off, to wait until you have collected 12 stamps and get a 1/2 price treatment, or until you have a full card of 16 stamps to receive a treatment absolutely free.
For example
- If you came for a full body massage once a week, collecting 2 stamps a week, it would only take you 8 weeks to have a full card and on the 9th week your massage would be completely free.
- If you came every 3 weeks for a back massage, it would take you 48 weeks to get 16 stamps and receive a completely free treatment, that's 11 months. So you might choose to trade in your card at 8 stamps (that would take 5 1/2 months) for 25% off or at 12 stamps (which would take 8 months) to get a half price treatment.

My recommend a friend offer is continuing - £5 off your next treatment when a friend has a treatment on your recommendation.

Festive Season Availability

I hope you aren't getting too stressed out by all the pressures of the season!

This week I am available as usual. Ie Monday I was at
Concept Hair and Beauty and on Thursday and Saturday afternoons I'll be at my Therapy Room in East Road (follow the links for location details and photos). I'm now fully booked tomorrow but if you fancy a massage or Reflexology de-stress on Saturday (perhaps after facing the shops!) or you'd like to treat visiting friends and family (I've had a few people request that, you lovely lot) I am available. Perhaps with some Frankincense for a festive yet deeply relaxing effect!

Next week I will be available on Friday the 23rd of Dec instead of Thurs 22nd. For urgent treatment, I would be available on Saturday 24th Dec - Christmas Eve.

Between Christmas and New Year I will be taking a week off for the first time in 6 years - really looking forward to it!

First week of January I think Concept will be shut for the Bank Holiday on Monday 2nd of January, but if you would like an appointment on that day let me know and I will check if I can do so at East Road. If you are feeling rather sluggish and worse for wear after overindulging in food and drink, I can provide a de-toxing treatment to help your liver recover, and get your pep back!

Also, as a follow up about Christmas Gift Vouchers, its not too late! If you are worried about the Christmas post, you can come and buy one from me at either of my locations on the days I am there, if you arrange a time with me to make sure I am in, as well as through the post as I detail on my webpage.

Happy Holidays / Merry Christmas and a very Healthy, Happy New Year!

Now Available on Mondays at Concept Hair and Beauty!

Concept Hair and Beauty is right in the middle of Lancaster town centre. It is at number 41 China Street, which is on the one way system round town, next to Sue Bridges Estate Agents and just round the corner from Market Street and the main shopping area.

There is a beauty room at the back of the salon which is used by beauty therapist Sonia Gilmore Tuesday to Saturdays and is now home to Holistyx on Mondays! I am available from 9am when the salon opens right through to 7.30pm.

So if you work in town, why not make an appointment to come along after work, for a bit of relaxation at the end of a hard day? A lot of people suffer from work related stress, what better way to unwind, relax, and enable yourself to enjoy your evening and cope better the next day than finishing your work day with a relaxing massage? Or perhaps, with the central location, you might even fit in a massage or reflexology treatment before work or in your lunch break?

My full range of treatments, Swedish Massage, Indian Head Massage, Aromatherapy massage and Reflexology are available. The staff at the salon do not make appointments for me, as I need to speak to you to make sure the treatment you wish to have is suitable for you, but they are happy to take your name and number and pass them on to me - for me to contact you - if you wish. Or just give me a ring on 07888 692803.
